The first General Manager of the Preservation era, Douglas Ferreira, started his employment with the railway. "I drove up to the station, parked my Fiat 600 outside the office and took up residence". According to D.R. Webb, former Secretary of the Society, it was quite a sight to see Douglas inserting his 6ft. 4ins. (or thereabouts with shoes on) into this minuscule vehicle and extracting it again.
