The B-B Diesel hydraulic locomotive, Royal Anchor was delivered to Ravenglass on April 1st 1961. Named after the "Royal Anchor Hotel" in Liphook, Hampshire, the diesel-hydraulic locomotive had been built in 1956 by Charles Lane in Liphook. Although not capable of hauling a full train, the loco was used for works trains and passenger outings. It was painted in two-tone grey with a red band and worked hard on the Ratty until sold to Carnforth in 1978. It is now in the United States.
