During this global COVID-19 pandemic, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway Preservation Society continues, despite the temporary closure of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, to support the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway Company.
For the Society to continue to help the Railway Company in future, we rely on the assistance of our members to renew their annual subscription.
I would like to thank the Members who have already renewed; your support is gratefully recognised in this, our 60th Anniversary year. To those of you yet to renew, or wishing to join afresh, I would ask that, if able, you renew at your earliest convenience and support the #bestlittlerailwayintheworld at this difficult time.
Unfortunately, at the moment, our volunteers are unable to provide practical support by way of operational voluntary work during the temporary closure. Therefore, at present, the best assistance we can offer is to maintain our membership levels so that when the Railway re-opens, the Society is able to support the R&ER Company fully. Society roles are voluntary and carried out remotely from the Railway.
The Society magazine’s editorial team continue to work on the June 2020 issue of our quarterly magazine and, at the time of writing, plan to publish and distribute this to all current members who have renewed by the beginning of May 2020
The team is also working hard to produce a 60th Anniversary booklet to commemorate the significant support of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway by the Society over the last 20 years (since the previous booklet produced for the 40th Anniversary)
These publications will automatically be sent to all members, who have renewed/joined by the beginning of May 2020, at the normal time of early June (subject to change without notice)
Please note that if you renew/join later than this, the magazine and booklet may not be available due to limited production numbers. (We try to correlate the number of magazines printed with the number of members, in order to avoid wastage of both money and resources)
We hope that you are able to continue your valued support of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway Preservation Society at this challenging time, and I would ask that, if at all possible, you renew online at https://rerps.co.uk/the-society/membership-form/ as paying cheques into the bank is not easy during lockdown! Please email: [email protected] for a guide on how to navigate this if you are unsure.
