The hero of the season so far has undoubtedly been the loco Perkins, which has worked virtually all the overnight trains and often up to five trips a day in between. With the temporary loss of Douglas, as the only main line diesel, it briefly had its loading reduced to six cars. It has had its moments, rescuing Northern Rock from Dalegarth on 8th June and itself needing a tow from Long Yocking bend the following morning. On 18th and 19th June it took the flail up the line, and has since reverted to full-time passenger work.
